Confederation Comic

For a history assignment, here is a political comic about the forming of confederation, and I have to do an “Artist Statement” about it.

This comic of Confederation shows a portly little girl, with “confederation” written on her dress and she is holding the “union act” in her hand. The “Fathers of Confederation” as certain people who helped form our coutry, such as Sir John A McDonald, George Brown, and others, all saying they are the real fathers of confederation, and it is just that one person’s child, although they are all the creaters of conferation. The Caption “CONFEDERATION! The much fathered youngster” sets the stage about the comic. My comic shows that much MUCH more went into Confederation than what was needed, and also shows that confederation was unnecesary. From  here.

History, Unit 1, Activity 1

I remembered that Newfoundland joined Canada in 1949, and that although not included in this thing, Cape Breton Island almost became a province, along with many other smaller islands and areas, but these provincial wannabees never became real provinces.
I noticed that there were many provinces and territories in central Canada, such as the district of Keewatin and the district of Mackenzie, the district of Athabaska, etc.
I was unaware of these mini districts in Canada, which are now non existant.

Strange Bog on Google Earth near Crofton, Ontario

While researching maps I found this very odd bog near the tiny town of Crofton, Ontario. It appears to be dredged, but is very strangely done so, and has unusual circle areas. Hmm, you never know what you’ll find when on Google Earth.
